What Growing Teams Have Found

ZA

Zainal Ariffin

Operations Director · Petaling Jaya

We had been onboarding staff the same haphazard way for three years. After the Onboarding Design Programme, new joiners actually told us they felt prepared. The manager checklist alone has saved so many awkward first weeks.

I was not sure a one-week review would surface much. It surfaced quite a lot. The observations note was honest in a way that was useful rather than uncomfortable, and the next steps were things we could actually start on the following Monday.

Head of People · Shah Alam

The People Operations Advisory gave us a proper picture of where our practices were inconsistent. The phased plan helped us stop trying to fix everything at once, which is exactly the trap we kept falling into on our own.

Managing Director · Subang Jaya

What I appreciated most was that the consultants were straightforward. They did not tell us what we wanted to hear. The engagement surfaced a scheduling issue that had been causing quiet resentment for months and nobody had flagged it clearly.

The fixed fee model made it easy to say yes. We knew exactly what the engagement covered and what it would cost. No surprises. The onboarding templates are still being used twelve months on, with only minor adjustments.

Suresh Haridas

General Manager · Damansara

We engaged Lirae when we were scaling from 12 to 28 staff. The People Operations Advisory gave our management team a shared language for discussing people processes, which had been missing. The follow-up sessions at the end were genuinely useful.

Case Studies

Engagement Outcomes in Detail

Three short case studies showing what prompted an engagement, how it unfolded, and what changed as a result.

Case Study 01 · Process Review

Challenge

A 15-person professional services firm in KL noticed that new staff were taking longer than expected to become productive. Onboarding had been managed entirely by word of mouth, with each manager doing it differently.

What We Did

Conducted a one-week Process Review covering onboarding and internal communication. Mapped the current experience through four conversations and a review of existing email threads and docs.

Outcome

Delivered a process snapshot and a shortlist of five adjustments, ordered by ease. Three were implemented in the following fortnight. The director reported that the next two new joiners both settled in noticeably faster.

Case Study 02 · Onboarding Design

Challenge

A technology company in Shah Alam was hiring two or three staff per month. New joiners were consistently confused about their first week — no schedule, no documentation, and managers often unavailable to guide them.

What We Did

Ran a three-week Onboarding Design Programme. Mapped the current experience with the HR lead and two recent joiners, then designed a clear flow with week-by-week structure and supporting documents.

Outcome

Delivered an onboarding flow document, welcome email template, first-30-days schedule, and a manager checklist. The company ran it unchanged for six consecutive hires and reported a measurable reduction in early queries to HR.

Case Study 03 · People Operations Advisory

Challenge

An established services firm in Damansara had grown to 40 staff without ever formalising its people processes. Management sensed that the informal approach was starting to cause friction between departments, particularly around development conversations and recognition.

What We Did

Ran a three-month People Operations Advisory covering hiring practices, development conversations, and internal communication. Agreed a phased plan in month one and supported adoption through monthly sessions.

Outcome

By the end of three months, the company had documented processes for hiring, a structured approach to development conversations, and consistent communication channels across departments. Two follow-up sessions supported fine-tuning after implementation.
